We see a school that fosters an environment of integrity, personal responsibility and respect for others, and provides a well-rounded education through a broad range of historical, scientific and cultural topics; a school with smaller class sizes and teachers in partnership with parents.
To this end, the mission of Mountainville Academy focuses on academics, with special attention to the Language Arts and Mathematics. We believe that success in these areas leads to success in all areas of study, which in turn builds confidence, a love of learning and a desire to pursue more knowledge. This knowledge must be balanced by positive character development that encourages the application of good conduct, values and personal achievement to create responsible and contributing members of society. |

Race participants can run, walk or wheel the marathon or half marathon course. Your voice is heard and money is raised and donated to the charity of choice for each mile.

The money raised is used to cover all travel expenses and hotel accommodations, which are based on double occupancy and all residual money is donated to the charity of choice. Every effort is used to find discount expenses and volunteer work to assure that as much as possible will go to charity.

Our Mission Statement
Today, there are millions of children in underdeveloped countries who have no parents, food, clothing, or access to medical or emotional care. While the majority of these children are dying from malnutrition, their living conditions are so poor that even diaper rash can be deadly. This situation is not isolated; in fact, it is growing at an ever-increasing pace.
In contrast, there are thousands of families in developed countries trying to adopt. However, they are faced with a complicated and cost prohibitive adoption process. This gap continues to widen as more children die and families struggle to find the resources to adopt.
A Child's Hope Foundation is bridging this gap by creating adoption orphanages and providing a healthy environment for infants and young children, awakening their spirits while seeking a loving family for them. With your help we can save lives, build families, and be a child's hope for love and belonging in this world!

Our Mission Statement
A strong mind. A strong body. And a safe, supportive place to grow. These are things that every child needs - and deserves.
Helping to provide these things is what we do.
By creating, finding and supporting programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is working to better the lives of children and their families around the world.
The three core programs of RMHC - the Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Room and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile - are focused on helping families in need. Our cornerstone Ronald McDonald House program began in 1974 based on a simple idea: Provide a "home away from home" for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals. Since that time, more than 10 million families around the world have benefited from the comfort provided by a Ronald McDonald House.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room program extends the comfort of a Ronald McDonald House to a hospital setting. Typically located just steps from neonatal or pediatric intensive care units, the Family Room provides a place to escape the stress and tension of the hospital.
Through relationships with local health care providers, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile program brings cost-effective medical, dental and health education services directly to underserved children in both rural and urban areas around the world.
In addition to supporting the core programs, RMHC and our global network of local Chapters in 49 countries have awarded more than $440 million dollars in grants and program services worldwide to make an immediate, positive impact on as many children as possible. Together with support from hundreds of thousands of passionate and caring volunteers, donors and RMHC staff, we've had plenty of success. |

Our Mission Statement
Tzu Chi Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 1966 by Dharma Master Cheng Yen in the impoverished east coast of Taiwan. The Foundation has been contributing to better social and community services, medical care, education and humanism in Taiwan for nearly 40 years. Master Cheng Yen firmly believes that suffering in this world is caused by material deprivation and spiritual poverty. She felt that "lack of love for others" has been the root of many problems in this world. "To save the world, we must begin by transforming human hearts."
A volunteer-based, spiritual as well as welfare organization, Tzu Chi’s missions focus on giving material aid and inspiring love and humanity in both the givers and receivers. Since its founding, the Foundation has dedicated itself in the field of charity, medicine, education, environmental protection, as well as the promotion of humanistic values and community volunteerism. The humanitarian work is both a means to help those in need, and also a way to open the eyes of the volunteer to the harsher side of life, so that through giving, they may find spiritual happiness and life's true meaning.

Our Mission Statement
Northwest Center was founded in 1965 by parents who refused to institutionalize their children with developmental disabilities or accept the prevailing notion that their children couldn’t be taught. Banding together to form Northwest Center for the Retarded, they hired their own teachers to develop education programs targeted to special needs and found that their children could indeed learn.
That was only the first step. Still frustrated that children with disabilities weren’t accepted in public schools, these parents authored and won approval of civil rights legislation that opened the doors of Washington State schools to all children—with no exceptions. The Education for All Act was the first such law in the nation and served as the model for federal legislation.
The spirit of advocacy and innovation that gave rise to our organization has continued to influence our development. Now over four decades later, Northwest Center has grown to become the largest community service organization serving the needs of children and adults with disabilities in the Pacific Northwest.
Backed by a tireless staff, strong leadership and active community partnerships, we are working to enrich the lives and livelihood of the individuals we serve. Our innovative combination of programs and enterprises is building the life-long relationships necessary to assist people with disabilities and their families—now and into the future.

In 1993, after playing professional basketball in Dallas and Indiana for eight years, Detlef Schrempf and his family landed back in Seattle, Washington. In 1994 Detlef, now with the Seattle Sonics, agreed to host a celebrity golf tournament for three years, benefiting Boyer Children’s Clinic. By 1995, Detlef and his wife Mari realized the impact special event fundraising could bring to a community. In 1996 the Detlef Schrempf Foundation was formed.
With very little knowledge of how to begin, but with a lot of heart and effort, the Detlef Schrempf Foundation generated an enormous amount of interest and support. Over the past decade, the foundation has produced a variety of fundraising events including, golf tournaments, gala and auctions, celebrity dinners and functions, family festivals, benefit concerts, basketball tournaments and basketball camps – not to mention numerous personal appearances and autograph sessions. To date, the Detlef Schrempf Foundation has raised over $7-million for Northwest charities and another $2-million in trade relationships.
The Schrempf’s level of dedication and enthusiasm for giving back to their community is only matched by their love of this city they call home.

Our Mission Statement
The Grant Wistrom Foundation was created in July of 2002. Realizing that friendship, happiness and hope are as important as any treatment administered in a hospital, the Foundation strives to allow pediatric cancer patients a space in time to be just children. At a Foundation event they are able to connect with other children who understand their world as both a child and a patient. Friendships are created through these common bonds.
The plight of young oncology patients was brought to Grant’s attention during his senior year at the University of Nebraska Lincoln, when he befriended a young Husker fan with leukemia from his home state of Missouri. To help prepare the child for the loss of his hair during treatment, Grant, Jason Peter and Jared Tomich included Kendall in their pre-game ritual of shaving their heads and presented him with an honorary blackshirt jersey. His concern for pediatric cancer patients, through that first encounter in Nebraska, has grown into the Foundation that bears his name.

Our Mission Statement
SEHS was founded in 1972 by a group of University of Washington students who were concerned about the growing number of homeless in Seattle due to the economic recession and layoffs at the Boeing Company. They incorporated SEHS as a class project and started with four donated apartments. They put a former Vista Volunteer and UW teaching assistant in charge of managing the units in exchange for free rent.
In 1975, SEHS moved to a ten apartment building in Holly Park, a low-income garden community housing project. By 1979, SEHS had emergency shelter units in three garden communities owned by Seattle Housing Authority (SHA) - - Holly Park, High Point, and Yesler Terrace. SEHS started the Transitional Housing Program in 1980, the first agency in the country to offer homeless families this model of service. SEHS consolidated all the emergency housing units in 1986 and moved to its present location in 1989 when SHA remodeled a section of Yesler Terrace for use by SEHS.
The! agency provides emergency shelter in furnished apartment units and transitional housing in neighborhoods throughout the Seattle area. Additionally, every family in SEHS housing is provided case management and access to additional services and resources to help them deal with problems that led them to be homeless.
SEHS was the first agency to house homeless families in Washington. From the modest beginnings in four donated apartments with volunteer staff, SEHS now has 31 units of emergency shelter, 25 units of transitional housing and provided intensive case management services.
SEHS continues to seek and develop collaborative relationships that offer expanded services and housing options. In February 2003, SEHS will operate 15 additional three and four bedroom transitional housing apartments in a 51-unit project developed by the Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI).

Attended by over two million people, the festival is one of the top three most highly decorated events by the International Festivals & Events Association. It features the Grand Floral Parade, one of the nation's top two all-floral parades.
On the heels of the successful Lewis & Clark Exhibition of 1905, Mayor Harry Lane decided the city should have a festival of roses. In those early years, horse-drawn floats, aquatic events, and fireworks highlighted the Festival. Following the 1907 event, a group of 10 businessmen formally organized the Portland Rose Festival as a non-profit civic enterprise to plan and finance the annual event.

These community organizations have identified crucial needs and developed strategies for positive change. They lack the financial and technical resources and experience in organization building that Child Aid provides. After helping a local group to develop the skills to sustain itself and grow, Child Aid moves on to assist somewhere else. In this way, we’re helping to create organizations that have a lasting and memorable impact … building brighter futures for poor children. |

Founded in 1989 by Anthony Kennedy Shriver, Best Buddies is a vibrant, international organization that has grown from one original chapter to more than 1,300 middle school, high school, and college campuses across the country and internationally. Best Buddies programs engage participants in each of the 50 United States. We have accredited international programs on six continents with additional country programs under active development. Our six formal programs – Best Buddies Middle Schools, High Schools, Colleges, Citizens, e -Buddies® and Jobs – will positively impact more than 350,000 individuals this year. Best Buddies also is systematically implementing our 2010 initiative that will witness the organization's continued significant growth, both domestically and overseas. Best Buddies volunteers annually contribute services to the community that equate to more than $70 million USD.
Even though Best Buddies has advanced tremendously in our short existence, many areas of the country and many regions of the world still lack programs to help people with intellectual disabilities become part of mainstream society. Our goal is to continue expanding nationwide and at the local community level, while more broadly engaging the global community through our programs.

Our Mission Statement
The Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County promotes building enough well-designed, sensibly located homes so that anyone who works, lives or grows up here can live here if they choose, in housing that meets their needs. We endorse housing developments that meet our criteria for location, density, and affordability; provide public education and outreach; and serve as a leading housing information resource for the county.
Building high-quality homes of all types—-houses, townhouses, condominiums, apartments—-near transit and neighborhood centers will strengthen our towns and reduce car trips. To match jobs, and thereby reduce commuter congestion, we want to build 16,000 new homes in the next ten years. To retain and reclaim our community service workers—-workers who are now scattered to other counties or doubled up here, putting undue pressure on neighborhoods—-we want 3,200 of these new homes to be priced within reach, permanently.
Our mission is to work with our organization and individual members to preserve and expand the range and supply of adequate, accessible, and affordable housing for residents and workforce of San Mateo County.

Our Mission Statement
We are a nonprofit, Santa Clara based organization that specializes in helping American children and their families. Ingrid Vilona founded American Family Charity after a long history of helping other people, primarily the homeless and working poor. The name says it all: this Charity was started to help families in need right here in America, starting in our own back yard. American Family Charity has helped countless homeless families transition out of shelters into their own apartments. Last year, American Family Charity donated several computers to the YWCA’s after-school program, which desperately needed them. The Charity also gave out hundreds of packages filled with needed goods for children of low-income families living in homeless shelters.
Due to donations from upstanding Silicon Valley community members, American Family Charity has been able to positively impact countless lives through acts of generosity and kindness. This year, it hopes to donate 500 duffle bags to underprivileged children during the holiday season. The bags will include a stuffed animal, ball, flashlight, toothbrush, coloring books, crayons, and a snuggly new blanket. For $25 per bag, you can lighten up the holiday season for a child in need and, also, help build a summer camp for needy children. |

Our Mission Statement
Since our inception in 1992, Design Response has been delivering on our goal of improving environments for nonprofit agencies and schools that serve the most needy in our community. We have completed more than 200 projects for agencies serving the poor, homeless, developmentally disabled, and families and children in crisis throughout Santa Clara, San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties. We've helped make their facilities safe, functional, well designed and, most of all, welcoming.
Operating on shoestring budgets and in cramped quarters, nonprofit agencies in our community frequently struggle to ensure continuity of client services. Rarely is spending time or money on critical facility improvements a priority. By leveraging the volunteer time and talent of the design industry, and combining that with donations of high quality furniture and materials and our own professional project management, Design Response fills this need and adds value at a fraction of market cost.
We also know that an individual’s sense of self is deeply affected by the space that surrounds them. And when that individual is in crisis, the effect can be even more profound – affecting their dignity, their self-worth, and their ability to accept help. Design Response believes that an agency’s physical surroundings have a profound impact on its ability to achieve its mission and impact the lives of the people it serves.
Design Response is a 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation.

Our Mission Statement
The purpose of this site is to serve as a worldwide gathering point on the Internet for the latest news and disinterested information in regard to clinical trials and other responsible medical care in the treatment of pancreatic cancer. Additionally, our aim is to present impartial knowledge about pancreatic cancer where interested parties can sort through a large amount of information efficiently in order to give a sense of the range of existing treatment options, to aid patient/doctor partnerships, and thus to help optimize personal treatment strategies.
Receiving a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer is serious news. For some, conventional surgical and /or medical therapy is the best option. For many of those with more advanced disease, putting one's affairs in order and seeking that medical attention which will help insure physical and emotional comfort, is the correct and most responsible decision.
But for others who wish to fight, it is important to know that there are options. There have never been this many options. The odds, depending on the type and extent of the tumor, may not be great. But fighting these odds may increase survival and may even provide an increased sense of well-being. And some people find meaning in the fight itself. For example, enrolling in a clinical trial can possibly help personal survival, but it definitely will help other people.
These kinds of treatment decisions should not be taken lightly. They must be taken with the greatest of care. But options do exist. And to evaluate whether they make sense, information is needed---open, disinterested information. We trust that this site can provide the kind of information which is necessary to help begin the search for an optimal treatment strategy.

This prepares the interns for the many ministry teams that make up a WOW JAM. In the afternoons they apply what they learned in a real setting in the inner city with thousands of hurting people that come to a WOW JAM.

Our mission: To create and sustain nonprofit excellence.
The Center was created in 1986 by the Frist Foundation and the United Way of Metropolitan Nashville to improve the skills of nonprofit executives in Middle Tennessee. This simple concept has blossomed into a full set of training, consulting and evaluation programs that meet the education and management needs of our growing nonprofit community.
The Center now provides a home to Middle Tennessee’s nonprofit leaders by offering a place to relax, to share triumphs, and to find solutions to problems. It is a place for nonprofit board members, executives and staff to learn how to enhance their services – and for the community to appreciate and recognize the enormous positive impact made by these nonprofit agencies. |

Our Mission Statement
You and I often greet others with the quick question, "How are you?" Usually we get a hurried "fine" in reply. Many times we barely slow down for the answer. The Masai tribe of Kenya has a greeting that goes a bit deeper--"How are the children?" It would be good for us to stop and ask that same question.
Can we answer as the Masai would, "The children are fine"? Judging by statistics, no! Many children are struggling with challenges at school, cultural pressures and family relationships. Even more important than these issues is the child's relationship to God.

It may be an elderly person on a fixed income, a working family whose child is struck by severe illness, an accident victim, a disabled person, or a schoolchild whose family can't afford basic needs.
The kind of help given by Friends of Man depends on the need. Our flexibility in this respect is unusual and allows us to be able to help where other resources cannot.
Friends of Man gives the donor the opportunity to really help others because every donation is used 100% to help people. No money is taken out for anything else.
There are no salaries. Directors, officers, and more than 50 vounteers give their time and skill without receiving a salary. The volunteers also pay all the costs (capital and administrative) of running the organization through the Institute. Friends of Man is thus able to use every donation 100% for its charitable purposes.
Friends of Man is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization registered and in good standing with the IRS.
